Around 40,000 objects are temporarily stored here during the renovation of the Gothic House Museum. In the “Horex Museum” you can see not only parts of the industrial history, but also the art and cultural history collection of the municipal historical museum.The main areas of painting, sculpture, toys, glass, porcelain, pewter, musical instruments and furniture are concentrated on 380 m².The many portrait paintings in "Petersburg Hanging", from which hundreds of eyes look at the visitors, are an experience. An encounter with the huge cast of the famous Schlueter bust, which shows the Homburg Landgrave Friedrich II, is possible for the first time at eye level. The home decor of bygone times is evident in the precious furniture and richly decorated glasses.The collection parts graphics, numismatics, jewelry & hat pins, hat & fashion as well as the landgraves weapons collection can only be seen in guided tours. Then special pieces are taken out of cupboards and safes by the scientists and explained.In the Schaudepot app, you can digitally experience selected objects from the collection at any time - whether in preparation, accompanying or after a visit to the Schaudepot in the Horex Museum.The audio tour presents the selected objects, which represent entire areas of the collection, in the history of their creation. You can hear the audio tour, read texts and look at the objects as a picture in peace. For some objects, music can be heard in the audio tour. It either indicates the time in which the respective object was created or was even recorded on the historical instrument presented.The Schaudepot app would also like to give you a barrier-free visit to the museum.
